Must Have
Degree level or equivalent in an Engineering or Science based discipline, Demonstrable experience in the Nuclear Safety related areas of either Structural Integrity or Nuclear Graphite, Meet the criteria for Security Vetting, Resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years
Nice to Have
Practical experience in the application of safety case arrangements for higher category safety cases, such as author, verifier or case officer, Appreciation of regulatory processes and practices, Thorough knowledge of nuclear power plant theory, systems components and operation in order to assess compliance with the nuclear safety case, nuclear Site Licence and other legislation
What You'll Do.

Providing advice across the fleet

Full Job Description

If you can also bring a questioning attitude and an inquisitive mind, our Nuclear Safety Engineer position might be the role for you! Within the INA Assessment Branch, we have a team of Nuclear Safety Engineers covering the whole cycle of Nuclear Operations, from life extensions to defueling. We cover the breadth of technical disciplines and we’re now looking for skills and experience in Structural Integrity and Graphite. You’ll be responsible for the provision of internal regulation on nuclear safety, as well as the undertaking of Independent Nuclear Safety Assessment (INSA) on proposed plant and safety case changes. You’ll be providing advice across the fleet, so the role will be a hybrid position where you’ll be working from home, the office and travelling to our stations. What You’ll Be Doing As an INA Assessment Nuclear Safety Engineer, you will carry out the following: * Provision of independent assurance (assessment) that plant modifications have been correctly conceived, justified and implemented * Contribution towards INA assurance that plant is operated and maintained in accordance with the Safety Case * Representing INA at technical meetings both internally and with the ONR * Conducting and reporting of surveillance and other activities in accordance with the Model of Internal Regulation * Contributing to the reporting of internal regulation activities to all levels in the organisation * Developing and implementing oversight arrangements for specific projects. The role will require authorisation to and fulfilling of the Nuclear Safety Engineer Role in accordance with the Safety Case Management process. Appropriate mentoring and training will be provided to achieve this qualification. Who You Are As an INA Assessment Nuclear Safety Engineer, you will ideally be educated to Degree level or equivalent
