Must Have
High School education or equivalent, A minimum of four years of applicable experience is required (Staff Health Physicist), A minimum of 6 years of applicable experience is required (Senior Health Physicist), A minimum of six years of applicable experience is required (Consulting Health Physicist), Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, physics, health physics, nuclear engineering, engineering, or equivalent from an accredited institution, including formal training in radiation protection is required (Consulting Health Physicist), NRRPT certification or ABHP Part 1 is required (Senior Health Physicist), Either ABHP certification or a minimum of one year of experience as a fully-qualified Radioactive Material Shipper at a commercial nuclear facility is required (Consulting Health Physicist), Proficiency with common computer programs, especially Microsoft applications, interpersonal and communication skills, leadership capabilities
Nice to Have
NRRPT certification or ABHP Part 1 preferred (Staff Health Physicist), A master's degree may be considered in lieu of one year of experience, and a doctorate degree may be considered in lieu of two years of experience, provided that the coursework is related to radiation protection (Staff Health Physicist), A master's degree may be considered in lieu of one year of experience, and a doctorate degree may be considered in lieu of two years of experience, provided that the coursework is related to radiation protection (Senior Health Physicist), A master's degree may be considered in lieu of one year of experience, and a doctorate degree may be considered in lieu of two years of experience, provided that the coursework is related to radiation protection (Consulting Health Physicist), Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, physics, health physics, nuclear engineering, engineering, or equivalent from an accredited institution, including formal training in radiation protection is desired (Senior Health Physicist), In lieu a degree, 8 years of applicable experience in the area of expertise may be substituted (Senior Health Physicist)
What You'll Do.
Provide technical support to the radiation protection programs to promote safe
legal and efficient plant operation
radioactive material shipping
working with ALARA and radiological work planning
Provide technical support and professional expertise to ensure Radiation protection programs protect the health and safety of plant personnel and the public
Review changes to federal
state and local radiation protection regulations to ensure continued compliance
Ensure programs and procedures comply with all Federal and State regulations
and national and international industry standards
Coordinate corrective action document responses for the Radiation Protection Department
Review of RFR's to ensure appropriate actions are taken to review and address RFR requirements
and maintain analytical efforts in applied radiation protection to support plant operations
and problem solving for radiological issues
and submit reports to ensure compliance with current federal regulatory requirements
technical specifications and state legislation
Prepare and review changes to procedures
Technical Specifications and other documents
Prepare reports to support federal regulations and plant operations
Provide support for special research and development work
Prepare equipment and software specifications
and evaluate equipment and software for suitability of use
Perform in-house surveillance activities to supplement independent quality control/quality assurance activities
