Engineers in Micron’s Surface Lab perform physical, mechanical, and thermal characterization of semiconductor materials, devices, and packages to support technology development, advanced packaging, and high‑volume manufacturing. This role requires strong laboratory skills, attention to data quality, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineering customers, tool vendors, and cross‑functional partners. In this role, you will be expected to prioritize quality & rigor, collaboration, continuous learning, communication, and safety. **Primary Responsibilities** * Perform routine physical and thermal characterization of semiconductor materials and products in support of internal development and manufacturing customers. * Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to meet cycle‑time and quality expectations * Analyze samples, interpret results, and author clear, accurate technical reports * Provide day‑to‑day customer support for engineering and manufacturing teams * Ensure compliance with lab SOPs, safety requirements, and information security policies * Support vendor interactions, tool qualifications, and preventative maintenance activities **Minimum Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in **Mechanical****Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry** , or a closely related field * Hands‑on laboratory experience with scientific or engineering instrumentation * Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills * Effective written and verbal communication * Flexibility to support manufacturing and rotating shift work **Preferred Qualifications** * Experience with physical, mechanical, or thermal characterization, such as: * Thermal
