We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham. _**Job Summary**_ GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Under indirect supervision of the Chief Technologist, the incumbent performs standard electroencephalographic (EEG) examinations (includes routine awake and sleep EEGs, portable EEGs and long term monitoring bedside EEGs) on both outpatients and inpatients. Responsibilities include test set up, electrode application, conduction of tests and the collection of information pertinent to the interpretation of the tests. May perform clerical/administrative duties as required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Greets patients and explains the examination procedures to the patient and/or family. May perform the tests in the laboratory, at the patient bedside, in an intensive care unit or in the emergency room. Selects predetermined standard and special electrode combinations (montages) made necessary by the case under study. May need to add additional electrodes as clinically indicated. Measures patient’s head using the international 10-20 system prior to placement of monitoring equipment. Operates the EEG equipment to record EEG procedures. Monitors recording as it is in progress, makes pertinent notations of the clinical state of the patient and defines abnormal from normal activity based on the patient’s history and clinical condition. Obtains standard recordings, recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them. Uses activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimula
