What You'll Do.

Perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols

Operate MRI Scanners and associated equipment

Examine requests and verify orders

Refer and question orders to Radiologist

Contact ordering provider for discrepancies

Identify patients using two identifiers

Assist patients and explain procedures

Prepare patients for procedure

Document on appropriate worksheets

Interview patients for medical history

Review EMRs for clinical history

Record medical history on requisitions

Correlate test results with exam

Assume responsibility for exam

Prepare and administer IV contrast

Record contrast type and amount

Evaluate technical quality of images

Consult with Radiologist

Recognize abnormal anatomy

Process additional images and measurements

Perform basic patient care functions

Inform nursing personnel of patient condition changes

Initiate life support measures

Assist in code blue procedures

Assist Physicians/PA during invasive procedures

Practice proper sterile technique

Perform invasive procedures in accordance with policies

Obtain medication or contrast material

Practice principle of radiation safety

Follow appropriate radiation safety standards

Report malfunctioning equipment

Maintain knowledge of bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease

Adhere to hospital fire and safety procedures

Attend in-service classes

Complete safety modules

Operate radiology computer system

Enter orders and charge procedures/supplies

Document contrast administration in MAR

Maintain assigned work area

Assist other medical personnel

Maintain knowledge of MRI safety requirements
