Must Have
A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, A minimum of a couple of years’ experience in a mining engineering role, Exposure to mine planning, design or operational engineering functions, Experience or familiarity with mining software used for planning, scheduling or design, communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, A flexible, adaptable mindset and willingness to support multiple areas of the operation, A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement, A commitment to safe work practices and site standards

Anglo American Steelmaking Coal Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia. As a Mining Engineer, you will play a key role within the Capcoal Technical Services team, contributing across mine planning, design and operational execution. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this role suits someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable supporting multiple operational areas. You will contribute to front‑end daily planning and short‑term mine planning horizons (up to approximately three months), while also supporting longer‑term thinking as the site works toward growth and production uplift targets. The position offers exposure across dragline, drill & blast, truck and shovel, and broader production activities, making it ideal for a versatile engineer looking to develop well‑rounded open‑cut experience.
