What They're Looking For.
Must Have
3-5 years UI design experience, Proficiency with the latest versions of Figma, Good understanding of delivering latest WCAG compliant designs, Ability to constructively critique design, Awareness of existing design systems such as Material design, and Fluent Design, Obsession with digital trends and design
Nice to Have
Graduation or Masters from Design School, Some engineering background, Previous experience in the retail sector, Experience in a range of high-profile design projects in a customer & business facing environment
What You'll Do.
Design and maintain platform libraries using variants
and other organizing and scaling principles
Support processes to ensure the continued relevance and best user experience of the design system
Bring the design system to life inside all UI projects
Evolve the Digital Design System based on user needs
Identify opportunities for simplifying designs across products
Contribute to end user documentation describing the standards and best practices of our component library
Create and maintain engineering handover documentation
Understand feasibility of design ideas
Ensure review of design implementation at key stages of the development cycle
Be the voice of the Digital Design System (DDS) for designers in other teams
Promote inclusive design practices and deliver accessible (AA) designs and components
Contribute to the end-to-end UI process activities relevant to the design system workflow
test and contribute to the design system
Validate designs via A/B testing
run conceptualisation and participatory design sessions
Help other disciplines understand the value the design system can bring to a project

How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Collaborate with your team members; Work hand in hand with the product teams; Work with product teams to identify opportunities for simplifying designs; Work closely with engineering teams to understand feasibility of design ideas and ensure review of design implementation; Collaborate with different disciplines inside product teams, working closely with UX & UI designers, researchers, UX writers, engineers, product managers, data analysts, and business stakeholders; Help other disciplines understand the value the design system can bring to a project; Provide feedback to other designers to help strengthen your team; Work with the Design Manager to cultivate a positive, supportive, and inclusive team culture

About the role: Collaborate with your team members to design and maintain our platform libraries using variants, tokens, and other organizing and scaling principles resulting in flexible, reusable components for our platform libraries that are suitable for both designers to use in Figma and be technically feasible for our engineers. Support processes to ensure the continued relevance and best user experience of the design system, including community support, research and testing its effectiveness. Work hand in hand with the product teams to bring the design system to life inside all UI projects and help evolve our Digital Design System based on user needs. Work with product teams to identify opportunities for simplifying designs across products across the different business areas to keep our design system lean and efficient.
