What They're Looking For.

Must Have

AS degree in meteorology/environmental sciences or equivalent weather forecasting experience, One year of weather forecasting experience, One year of manual surface weather observing experience, Experience using basic surface observing instrumentation such as anemometers, thermometers, barometers, and Kestrels, Good understanding of surface and upper air observing procedures, Good understanding of the atmospheric principles that govern surface and upper-air observed phenomena, Good oral and written communication skills, Ability to work quickly and efficiently in high-stress environments, Ability to work well with minimal supervision, Ability to maintain a positive attitude and be reliable in a very dynamic environment, Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a diverse, team-orientated environment, Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with employees and the public, Possess visual acuity correctable to 20/20, Ability to visually observe clouds, Ability to run short distances during balloon releases, Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions, The flexibility to work frequent non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements, Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U. S. citizenship, Valid U. S. Driver’s License

Nice to Have

Experience working on the Eastern/Western Range or military meteorological systems, Familiarity with GPS-based upper-air equipment and associated data processing

Perform manual surface weather observations

Operate upper air observing systems

Perform quality control on data products

Assist in instrumentation system testing

Develop maintenance procedures

Provide technical direction

Perform inventories and audits

Support launch operations

Assist in Root Cause Analysis

Complete assigned training

Assist with training of others

Perform other duties as assigned
