What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Minimum 2 years experience as a Medical VA, Health VA, or in a similar healthcare billing role, understanding of medical terminology and billing processes, Experience using billing software, Excel, and cloud-based tools, Ability to work independently and within Australian time zones
Nice to Have
Familiarity with Australian medical billing systems (Medicare, DVA, private health insurers), Prior experience working with Australian medical specialists, Familiarity with medical practice management systems (e. g. , Shexie, Genie, MedicalDirector, Best Practice), Knowledge of Medicare Australia guidelines and ECLIPSE system
What You'll Do.
Accurately prepare and submit medical billing claims to Medicare
Reconcile payments received from multiple payers and identify any discrepancies or shortfalls for correction.
Monitor outstanding claims and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
Assist with preparation of fortnightly and quarterly reports
tracking billing performance
and payment summaries.
Coordinate with internal teams and healthcare providers for clarification of billing details and documentation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records and documentation.
