What They're Looking For.
Must Have
High school diploma or GED, One year of related experience
Nice to Have
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification, Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
What You'll Do.
Assist in monitoring vital signs
Maintain aseptic technique
Observe for any break in technique
Care properly for contaminated items
Assist in stocking OR supplies
Stock and maintain inventory of surgical supplies
Check equipment and document on log sheet
Assist each area as requested
Assist in pre-op assessment
Discontinue Hep-Locks
Assist in post-op instruction review
Perform fingerstick blood sugar
Document results in medical record
Assist physician during laser procedures
Report pertinent observations and reactions
Identify patient and family teaching needs
Initiate intervention to meet needs
Maintain and promote a positive
Assist with or initiate emergency measures
Monitor levels of inventory
Attend departmental meetings
Attend in-service education
Show responsibility for own professional practice
Participate in economical utilization of supplies
Ensure equipment is maintained clean and safe
