American Institute, founded in 1924 as the Hartford Secretarial School, provides hands-on training for careers in the world of business, legal, allied healthcare, diagnostic medical sonography, and information technology. Recognizing our single, well-defined teaching mission: reflecting job market demands with flexibility in identifying and incorporating new programs to give our graduates an edge in today’s competitive job market. Position Description Title: Medical Assistant Instructor Department: Education Type: Non-exempt Reports to: Program Director/Director of Education Summary: A Medical Assistant Instructor or Faculty member cultivates the school’s mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance, and review in order to ensure the successful academic program and personal development of each student. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Program/Course Responsible for comprehensive course instruction within specified program Responsible for providing Program Director/Director of Education with active input in course development (i.e., course descriptions, syllabus creation, textbook material, or equipment review). Responsible for the creation and revision of daily lesson Responsible for continued professional growth by attending in-service training and/or continuing education seminars and to attend faculty meetings. Responsible for accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic Student Development Responsible for creating a classroom environment which fosters students’ academic growth and guides their professional development. Responsible for keeping DOE apprised of student progress (i.e., academic and attendance), especially in terms of performance trends detrimental to the development of a firm educational foundation (academic advisement and early warning forms).
