Full Job Description

Hampton, Virginia **Overview** The Medical Assistant is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical related functions under the direct supervision of the physician and practice manager. Is responsible for the clinic patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a wide range of health care services while supporting quality and safe care. May float to other practices as needed to support operational needs. May be asked to float to other practices within the region providing support as needed. **What you will do** * Maintains excellent clinical competency by adhering to the standard clinical expectations for Riverside Medical Group. This includes updating, verifying, and maintaining patient records by properly interviewing the patient and confirming purpose of visit. Prepares patient for examination by obtaining vital signs proficiently (including manual vital signs when mechanical devices are not available). Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and after patient appointments. Administer medications and vaccines under the supervision of a physician. Assists with processing prescription refill requests for approval and forwarding to pharmacies. Maintains medical inventory of supplies and keeps exam rooms stocked appropriately. Keeps any necessary equipment in operating order and facilitating preventive maintenance when needed. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations with scope of practice, HIPAA, and OSHA standards. Completes all required competencies and education to maintain skill level to provide safe patient care. * Acts as a liaison between physician and patient, by providing support and comfort to patients and families during clinic visits and procedures as needed, including chaperoning during sensitive examinations.
