Must Have
Meets requirements to sit for a CLS/MT Certification exam, Clinical Lab Generalist or Specialist licensed by Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as CLG or CLS
Nice to Have
BS Degree in Medical Lab Science preferred, Successful completion of NAACLS Accredited Program preferred, ASCP Board certification preferred
What You'll Do.
Ensure specimens are acceptable for testing
and distribute lab specimens
Apply criteria for specimen rejection
Follow hospital/laboratory safety policies
Follow infection control policies
Report safety variances to supervisors
Follow universal precautions
Handle biohazardous materials
Handle chemically hazardous materials
Assure proper packaging of waste chemicals
Assure proper disposal of waste chemicals
Maintain documentation of generated waste
Operate primary instrumentation
Operate secondary instrumentation
Document reagent changes
Prepare specimens for testing
Verify documentation completeness
Verify documentation accuracy
Perform high complexity testing
Float between laboratory sections
Assist in other areas
Maintain working knowledge of policies
Maintain working knowledge of procedures

Operate clinical laboratory instrument

Evaluates and reports data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Applying criteria for specimen rejection as applicable. * Follows hospital/laboratory safety and infection control policies and reports variances to section supervisors as they occur. * Follows universal precautions at all times when dealing with blood or body fluids. * Handles biohazardous and chemically hazardous materials per safety guidelines. * Disinfects workspace at appropriate frequencies per quality manual. * Assures proper packaging and disposal of waste chemicals. Maintains proper documentation of generated waste. * Operates both primary and secondary instrumentation proficiently. * Changes or prepares reagents, controls and documents per policy. * Prepare specimens for testing per policy and procedure. * Reports test results within establis
