“Mechanical Engineer for the ATLAS Detector at CERN. Skills: Mechanical Design, Installation, Project Management, Mechanical Calculations. Oversee mechanical design of detector system. Define mechanical interfaces”

Finalise design, integration, installation sequence, and connection to services; Ensure timely delivery of mechanical components; Facilitate smooth assembly planning; Ensure service infrastructure is implemented in line with detector commissioning needs

What They're Looking For.

Must Have

Master's degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, Solid experience in mechanical design, from 3D modelling to manufacturing drawings, Proven expertise in installation of high-technology equipment, requiring accurate procedures and tooling, Proven practice in mechanical calculations and Finite Element Analysis, Demonstrated experience in writing installation procedures, Experience in project management, including planning, procurement, and reporting, Experience in coordination of designers and technicians, Integration of mechanical systems, Knowledge of design codes and compliance verification of mechanical equipment, Assembly and integration of infrastructure for detectors or experimental facilities, Knowledge and application of numerical modelling in solid mechanics, Assembly of mechanical structures and equipment, Spoken and written English

Nice to Have

Experience in performing a variety of engineering tasks, managing multiple projects in parallel, and working effectively within international and multidisciplinary teams

Oversee mechanical design of detector system

Define mechanical interfaces

Manage mechanical interfaces

Supervise 3D integration models

Develop transport and installation sequence

Design installation tooling

Support detector team coordination

Participate in detector assembly

Supervise service infrastructure installation

Supervise detector installation

How You'll Work.

Team & Collaboration

Interface between Technical Coordination and detector upgrade teams; Collaborate with worldwide institutes; Coordinate designers and technicians; Work effectively within international and multidisciplinary teams; Gaining trust and collaboration from others

Communication Scope

Spoken and written English; Commitment to learn French
