Full Job Description

## Description At Zoox, you’ll collaborate with a team of world-class engineers with diverse backgrounds in areas such as AI, robotics, mechatronics, planning, machine learning, control, localization, computer vision, rendering, simulation, distributed computing, design, and automated testing. You will be challenged to rethink what it means for hardware design to arrive at elegant and efficient systems now that a robot is in control. Working at a startup gives you the chance to manifest your creativity and make a big difference in the final product.   As a Charging System Mechanical Engineer, your focus will be on the mechanical design of components for the L5 Electric Vehicle's High Voltage distribution and Charging systems. You will lead module development, managing the entire process from prototype to production alongside tier-one suppliers. This role requires defining system requirements based on a first-principles design approach and ensuring all components meet strict international standards (SAE, UL, IEC, ISO). You will also be responsible for creating critical documentation, including 3D/2D computer-aided drawings and detailed technical specifications. A major part of your work will involve cross-functional collaboration to break down and solve complex problems, identify root causes of failures, develop mitigation strategies, and integrate these learnings into new designs.     ## Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components, including enclosures, grommets, brackets, and assemblies, for low to high-volume production. Manage supplier engagement and programs, overseeing both build-to-print and build-to-specification efforts. Execute packaging reviews and detailed tolerance stack-up analyses. Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (e.g., electrical, test, manufacturing) and external partners to define requirements, iterate on designs, and gather technical feedback.
