Materials Engineering degree, Metallurgical Engineering degree, Welding Engineering degree, 8 years of related work experience in materials engineering, NDE, and welding with specialization in nuclear power plant environments, Ability to apply technical principles in a logical and practical manner to resolve engineering issues or technical problems, Proficiency with standard computer tools (e.g., Word, Excel), Willingness to qualify as a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW)
Nice to Have
Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, Prior experience working in a metallurgical laboratory or materials testing environment, Working knowledge of CSA N285.6, ASME BPV Code Sections II/III/V/IX, and other applicable codes, standards, or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems, Working knowledge or experience with carbon steels, stainless steels, nickel alloys, and zirconium alloys, including metallurgy, corrosion behavior, and performance in nuclear or other safety-critical applications, Familiarity with fabrication, metallurgical heat treatment, welding processes and qualifications, inspection techniques, and interpretation of material test data, Familiarity with fabrication, heat treatment, welding, inspection, and interpretation of material test data for zirconium alloy components, Familiar with metallurgical laboratory techniques for examination of microstructure and properties of metals (carbon steel, stainless steel) and welds of the materials, Basic knowledge of CANDU mechanical and process systems, structures, and components

### **Job Description** ## **Overview** AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking a Materials / Metallurgist Engineer to join our Materials, Welding, and Chemistry – Engineering Excellence team. This position is intended for an intermediate‑level professional who is self‑motivated and interested in developing their career and experience in the nuclear field. ## **Your role** * Perform materials, metallurgical, and welding‑related work in an engineering environment and prepare technical documents in accordance with AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements used in the Canadian nuclear industry. * Provide technical guidance and support and collaborate with other entities including laboratories, and other third parties. * Perform complex materials, metallurgical, and welding engineering assignments independently or under limited supervision of a senior metallurgist, analyst, or engineer. * Develop and deliver presentations, as required, to communicate technical status, problem resolution, or to support reactor components and balance‑of‑plant equipment initiatives. * Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and other design disciplines or departments to execute assigned engineering work. * Support the specification, design, development (including pre‑production qualification), assessment, and manufacturing of reactor components and materials to meet the needs of existing stations. * Support and consultation on the manufacturing of nuclear components (e.g., steam generators, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, piping) with respect to materials selection, metallurgical condition, welding requirements, cleanliness, handling, corrosion protection, and inspection requirements. * Lead and/or support improvements to materials and manufacturing processes through materials engineering considerations. * Provide materials engineering support for zirconium‑based nuclear components, including material selection, qua
