Full Job Description
## Description FieldAI’s Irvine team is where embodied AI meets real robots, real sensors, and real field deployments. Based in the heart of Southern California’s robotics ecosystem, we build risk-aware, reliable, field-ready AI systems that solve the hardest problems in robotics and unlock the full potential of embodied intelligence. If you want your work to ship, get tested on hardware, and improve through real deployments, Irvine is the place. We go beyond typical data-driven approaches or pure transformer-only architectures, combining rigorous engineering with learning systems proven in globally deployed solutions that deliver results today and get better every time our robots run in the field. ## What You'll Do Mapping & Localization Improve ICP/GICP/NDT registration workflows Support SLAM and localization pipelines across mapping systems Improve scan stitching accuracy and mapping robustness Optimize point cloud registration and alignment workflows Improve localization performance across large-scale operational environments Point Cloud Processing & Optimization Improve point cloud processing performance and scalability Support geometric optimization and scan matching workflows Debug and improve existing mapping and localization systems Contribute to mapping quality and operational reliability improvements Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with mapping, robotics, and deployment teams Support downstream processing and operational deployment workflows Help improve deployment readiness and mapping scalability Contribute to debugging and operational problem-solving across mapping systems ## What You Bring Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field 3–5 years of industry or applied robotics experience Strong experience with SLAM and localization systems Experience with ICP/GICP/NDT registration techniques Strong understanding of point cloud registration and sca
