Interpersonal and verbal communication skills, Written communication skills, Problem-solving skills, Organizational, planning and time management skills, Theatrical carpentry and craftsmanship, In depth demonstrated knowledge of theatrical rigging systems, Stage automation knowledge, Working knowledge of stage effects, Mathematical skills including structural design, Geometry, algebra and trigonometry, Working knowledge of techniques, methods and procedural cultures of theatre, dance and opera, Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures, Efficiently produce construction drawings using Vectorworks and/or Auto/CAD, Available on evenings and weekends for technical rehearsals, On call for performance emergencies

Training in pneumatics and mechanics, Working knowledge of theatre history and design
What You'll Do.
Translate scenic designs and technical drawings
Execute scenic elements safely
Maintain a safe and well-functioning shop and performance
Collaborate with faculty and student designers
Mentor students throughout the design and build process
Provide expertise in construction methods
Manage shop operations
Supervise staff and students
Develop build schedules and technical solutions
Advise on feasibility
and innovation in theatrical
Evaluate designs for engineering solutions
Create or oversee engineering solutions for scenery
and technology to achieve
Plan and execute build
Supervise construction
Participate in rehearsals and production meetings
Oversee scene shop operations
Train staff and students in safe practices
Provide hands-on support
Provide leadership in maintaining a safe working environment
and safe use of technical
Coordinate with Office of Risk Management for safety
Manage scenic budgets
Track and reconcile expenditures
Ensure cost-effective use of resources
Stay current with industry standards and technological advancements
Recommend and support acquisition of capital equipment
and effective production facilities
