What They're Looking For.
Must Have
8+ years of engineering in building cloud-native applications, with a focus on backend development and microservices architecture, 2+ years of experience in managing and leading engineering teams, Proficiency in programming languages such as Typescript, Go, Java, Python, and experience with modern frameworks and technologies, Experience in launching large-scale consumer-facing applications, understanding of the AWS cloud platforms and experience in building scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native applications, observability experience and skills, enabling you to drive reliability, performance, and deep system insights across the platform, analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to foresee long-term product goals and define an engineering roadmap

About the role We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our backend engineering team and help shape the future of our Search and Recommendations Platform. In this role, you will build and optimize the technology that powers two core aspects of the anime fan experience on Crunchyroll—search relevance and personalized recommendations—directly influencing how users discover and engage with our extensive content library. You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and cross-functional partners, including data analytics, platform engineering, and service monetization, to deliver scalable, flexible solutions. As Engineering Manager, you will report to the Senior Director, Software Engineering in the Fan Experiences Engineering group. This is a hybrid position based out of our Hyderabad office.
