Must Have

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, 7+ years of experience in mechanical design of electric machines, 2+ years of direct people management or formal team leadership experience, Deep understanding of electric motor construction, Expert-level understanding of 3D CAD modeling (NX preferred), Expert-level understanding of 2D drawing creation/review with advanced GD&T, Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality in engineering practices

Nice to Have

Aerospace development and certification experience (FAA/EASA), Experience with high-speed rotor dynamics and balancing, Familiarity with hardware project management tools (Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet), Familiarity with FEA software packages (ANSYS, NASTRAN)

Ensure structural integrity requirements are met

Ensure weight requirements are met

Ensure thermal performance requirements are met

Lead comprehensive design reviews

Provide final sign-off on CAD models

Provide final sign-off on technical drawings

Provide final sign-off on GD&T

Provide final sign-off on engineering specifications

Oversee development of sub-systems

Oversee development of lightweight rotor assemblies

Oversee development of high-speed rotor assemblies

Oversee development of high-voltage insulation systems

Guide FEA strategy definition

Verify strength requirements with FEA

Verify dynamic requirements with FEA

Verify fatigue requirements with FEA

Oversee participation in development testing

Ensure thermal predictions are validated

Ensure durability requirements are validated

Lead triaging of critical issues

Lead root cause analysis of critical issues

Lead resolution of critical issues

Partner with leadership to translate models

Ensure manufacturable parts are created
