What You'll Achieve.
Resolve claims within the company's deductible; Drive TPA performance and accountability; Provide data-driven insights on program trends and cost-containment opportunities; Ensure compliance with Panera's claim handling instructions, reserving philosophy, and resolution expectations; Ensure TPA adherence to best practices; Ensure accuracy of reserves; Ensure quality of investigation; Ensure timeliness of resolution; Report TPA performance results with recommendations for improvement; Assist in establishing appropriate action plans for claim resolution; Implement cost mitigation strategies; Ensure litigation management guidelines are followed; Monitor legal spend against reserves; Flag variances in legal spend; Ensure timely discovery, depositions, mediation, and trial; Evaluate settlement opportunities at each stage; Recommend escalation to excess carriers when appropriate; Provide appropriate support for authority requests; Translate findings into actionable recommendations for loss prevention; Translate findings into actionable recommendations for operational improvement; Ensure data integrity across all claim records; Inform policy or procedural changes that reduce future loss exposure; Pursue collection through all available channels

Occasional travel for mediations, trials, depositions, claim investigations, TPA audits, industry events and to corporate offices or regional locations, Must maintain a dedicated, professional home office environment with reliable, high-speed internet
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
6+ years of relevant risk management experience or commercial casualty claims experience handling auto, general, and/or product liability claims across multiple jurisdictions, Experience with complex and litigated claims, including active involvement in litigation strategy, mediation, arbitration, and trial support, Demonstrated experience in TPA oversight, including claim file audits, performance monitoring, and service instruction development, Experience managing defense counsel relationships, litigation budgets, and legal fee review, Familiarity with insurance policy interpretation (commercial auto, CGL, umbrella/excess) and coverage analysis, Understand and apply analysis tools/techniques, issue resolution skills, and demonstrate knowledge of relevant factors in the industry, Proficiency with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) or similar claim management platforms, including diary management and reporting, Experience with subrogation identification, pursuit, and recovery tracking
Nice to Have
advanced degree preferred, Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Claims (AIC) or similar industry designation preferred

Conduct periodic claim file audits
Monitor TPA performance metrics
Assist TPA in establishing action plans
Approve loss and expense reserves
Evaluate coverage applicability
Work with internal/external customers
Directly manage liability claims
Manage subrogation track recovery rates
Attend legal proceedings
Oversee defense counsel selection
Review and approve litigation budgets
Proactively manage litigated files
Evaluate exposure on litigated claims
Draft and present claim reviews
Prepare periodic portfolio reports
Provide training and guidance
Coordinate with excess carriers
Maintain current knowledge of legislative developments
Maintain current knowledge of regulatory developments
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Partner with Panera's Third Party Administrator (TPA); Work with internal and external customers and business partners; Partner with Safety, Operations and HR; Collaborative approach with ability to build productive working relationships across departments (Legal, Safety, Operations, HR)
Communication Scope
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to present complex claim evaluations to senior leadership and non-technical audiences
