Must Have

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with course work sufficient to meet the requirements of the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) for certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologist, Specialist, or HEW (MT)., Three years of experience working in an acute care facility as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, Histotechnologist, or, Two years of experience leading or supervising staff

Leads and coordinates the short and long-term operations of the designated laboratory area.

Implements new programs

Serves as a technical resource/lead across the health system.

Collaborates with site leadership to understand and support the technical operations of the assigned areas and provide technical guidance.

Maintains laboratory staff by recruiting

and training employees.

Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning following up on work results.

Develops a competent team by coaching and providing corrective action.

Maintains quality results by actively participating in the laboratory quality assurance consulting with performing proficiency reviewing quality control and quality assurance making adjustments in policy and generating and maintaining records.

Ensures departmental compliance with applicable regulatory agencies.

Maintains a neat and organized workspace that is regulatory inspection-ready at all times.

Develops and manages a department budget for assigned areas.

Determines most cost-effective method for performing negotiates with vendors for best pricing.

Maintains current knowledge of discipline-specific coding and billing to ensure charges are appropriately created and applied to patient and/or client accounts.

Position Objective: Leads and coordinates the short and long-term operations of the designated laboratory area. Serves as a technical resource/lead across the health system, as applicable, including standardizing instrumentation, procedures, and competencies. Collaborates with site leadership to understand and support the technical operations of the assigned areas and provide technical guidance when needed. Maintains laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results. Develops a competent team by coaching and providing corrective action, when needed; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Maintains quality results by actively participating in the laboratory quality assurance program; consulting with pathologists; performing proficiency surveys; reviewing quality control and quality assurance reports; making adjustments in policy and procedures; generating reports; and maintaining records. Ensures departmental compliance with applicable regulatory agencies including checklist compliance and staff competency.
