What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, Completion of a recognized accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CA, or equivalent), Minimum of 5 years’ experience in compliance or audit, Demonstrated ability to manage a well-functioning team, Interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), Ability to interact at all organizational levels, Self-motivated, proactive, with excellent organizational/prioritization skills, Demonstrated project execution skills with minimal supervision, Ability to draft policies and develop implementation communication plans, Competence in designing, analyzing, preparing, and implementing compliance/audit procedures, Ability to monitor audit processes and maintain related data, Highly computer literate: advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office Suite
Nice to Have
Experience in not-for-profit is an asset, Experience with SAP systems is an asset
What You'll Do.
Develop and implement governance structures
Create and maintain policies and practice guidelines
Strengthen financial controls
Monitor internal policy and accounting standard compliance
Assess and report risks
Lead Expense Claims Processing team
Provide guidance on expense policy application
Support Research Operations during audits
Build and manage stakeholder relationships
Identify process gaps and drive efficiency
Maintain oversight of Research financial reporting tools
Participate in committees
Contribute to strategic financial decisions
