Full Job Description
The AWS Public Policy team is paving the way for the future of data center power supply and industry leading carbon-free energy procurement through engagement with policymakers, grid operators and other stakeholders. Amazon is looking for a talented policy professional who is innovative and well-connected to represent AWS before state policymakers on energy and infrastructure policy. You will need to have a deep understanding of the energy policy industry, especially energy regulatory, legislative and wholesale electric market policy related to issues faced by large electricity buyers and customers in the eastern United States, especially Virginia, and throughout the PJM region. You have a passion for shaping grid policy in statehouses and before utility regulators throughout the eastern US, and you're excited to contribute to team efforts on related issues at the federal level. Key job responsibilities - Develop and execute advocacy strategies that support AWS energy policy priorities. - Engage relevant government entities such as the Virginia State Corporation Commission, PJM, state legislative committees of jurisdiction, state utility regulators and other energy industry stakeholders throughout the eastern United States. - Work with internal and external stakeholders and experts to identify opportunities and risks arising from policy and regulatory development. - Facilitate meetings between AWS and key stakeholders, including senior government officials, regulators, industry associations and alliance partners to promote AWS advocacy positions. - Craft and contribute to policy submissions and engage in consultations with relevant regulators. - Contribute to advocacy efforts within AWS including coordinating and developing public policy collateral such as policy position papers and talking points. - Provide expert advice to internal business partners and assist them in developing their respective business strategies.
