Full Job Description
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members. What You’ll Do: As the manager for the BMS Hardware Team, you will drive development of Archer’s high voltage battery management system (BMS) and charge control unit (CCU). You Will: Build and mentor a team of electrical engineers developing the BMS and CCU hardware. Guide architectural decisions and down-selection, to drive new hardware concepts to maturity. Make critical technical decisions balancing performance, safety, schedule, and certification constraints. Lead engineering design reviews and manage flight hardware releases. Guide cross-functional teams through hardware analysis projects (eg. WCCA, FMEA, PSSA) in support of safe flight and certification. Manage technical engagement with suppliers, partners, and certification authorities. Support the Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams during NPI & production ramp. Collaborate closely with program teams, to deliver high-quality hardware on schedule. Coordinate with integration and test teams during deployment across integrated test labs and aircraft. What You Need: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience in electrical system design for EV, aerospace, or similar high-reliability applications. 3+ years of demonstrated people management experience. Experience with high voltage battery systems and BMS electronics.
