Must Have

High school diploma or equivalent, Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology /Diagnostic Imaging Program, State of Florida License as a General Radiographer, CPR and BLS certification required, ARRT registered and ARRT Certified in primary modality or must obtain certification within one (1) year of hire date

One (1) year of relevant experience preferred

What You'll Do.

Obtain and examine order for Mammography scan

Ensure orders are appropriate to exam type

Notify supervisor of discrepancies

Contact physician’s office for correct orders

Identify patient service requirements

Establish personal rapport with patients

Obtain necessary consents and education

Perform complex specialized tasks operating Mammography scanners

Adapt exam as necessary

Adhere to Mammography protocols

Maintain high quality standards

Assist positioning patients in required anatomical position

Use immobilization and protective equipment

Maintain proper aseptic technique

Utilize universal precaution guidelines

Assist radiologist with imaging procedures

Assist radiologist with interventional Mammography procedures

Load and operate power injectors

Evaluate Mammography scans for technical quality

Collate processed images in sequence

Appropriately label images

Film/transmit to PACS

Charge procedures and supplies

Maintain accurate patient records

Provide explanations and answer questions

Apply age-specific care needs of patients

UMHC-SCCC-Plantation has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem, Mammography Technologist 1. The incumbent is responsible for performing complex procedures in Mammography through the operations of radiographic equipment to obtain highest quality of diagnostic images with the least amount of radiation exposure. Independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative are essential in addition to responsibility for designated areas, procedures and equipment. **CORE JOB FUNCTIONS** * Obtains and examines the order for a Mammography scan to be aware of information such as procedures requested, patient’s condition and any other special notes or comments. * Ensures that orders are appropriate to the type of exam recommended by physician. * Notifies supervisor of any discrepancies and/or contacts physician’s office for correct orders if necessary. * Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements. * Verify the patient’s ID by checking their name and date of birth on electronic medical record and patient’s wristband. * Always obtain necessary consents and education. * Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of Mammography scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures under the direction/supervision of a Radiologist using age appropriate standards of practice. * Ability to integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt exam as necessary. * Adhere
