Must Have

Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a journey worker, OR full-journey status in a OR four years' applicable work experience., Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Nice to Have

Knowledge and practical experience with WISHA (Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) regulations., Demonstrated proficiency with standard productivity software including Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent products, Demonstrated successful ability in taking direction, working well with others and as a member of a team., Demonstrated excellent effective verbal and written communication skills., Experience working in preventative maintenance.

**Job Description** **UW Facilities - Maintenance & Construction has an outstanding opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic II to join their team.** ## **About this opportunity** Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic II performs skilled maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance work across a wide range of campus facilities and building systems. This position supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of University facilities by troubleshooting issues, completing repairs, and coordinating with other trades to maintain building functionality and support the University community. The Maintenance Mechanic II contributes to a positive customer experience through responsive service, attention to safety, and high-quality workmanship. ## ## **Work Schedule** * Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 6:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. * This position is based at the Plant Services Building on the Seattle campus and is not eligible for telework. ## **Key Responsibilities** * Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of mechanical equipment and building systems, including motors, drive belts, air handling equipment, boilers, kitchen equipment, and exhaust fans. * Perform general building maintenance and repair work, including patching and painting walls, repairing windows, doors, screens, floors, floor coverings, and painted surfaces. * Complete minor plumbing repairs and installations, including repairing leaking faucets, replacing shower heads, tightening toilet seats, installing shower sweeps, and hooking shower drains. * Perform carpentry and interior repair work, including ceiling tile replacement, shelving installation/removal, laminate repairs, and adjustment of door closers. * Perform semi-skilled electrical work, including replacement of lighting ballasts and lamps. * Operate power tools, forklifts, scissor lifts, UW vehicles, and other equipment to transport personnel, tools, materials, and supplies to various j
