Eligibility Requirements

Extensive statewide travel, Overnight travel during the workweek, Ability to work primarily outdoors, in all kinds of weather conditions, Ability to perform manual labor, lifting medium to heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds daily, Ability to perform heavy physical tasks for extended periods of time, Ability to wear safety equipment and follow established safety regulations and procedures, Pre-employment drug / alcohol testing is required, Completion of release form and background statement allowing NCWRC to check with previous employees for the past two years about controlled substances and alcohol testing (if applicable), All offers of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of pre- and post-employment evaluations

Must Have

Valid North Carolina driver’s license within 90 days of hire, Ability to obtain a North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 12 months, Ability to work primarily outdoors, in all kinds of weather conditions, Ability to perform manual labor, lifting medium to heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds daily, Ability to perform heavy physical tasks for extended periods of time, Ability to wear safety equipment and follow established safety regulations and procedures, Pre-employment drug / alcohol testing is required, Completion of release form and background statement allowing NCWRC to check with previous employees for the past two years about controlled substances and alcohol testing (if applicable), All offers of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of pre- and post-employment evaluations, High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to Have

Experience with construction methods, equipment operation, and maintenance practices, building or maintaining boating or public fishing access areas, Reading blueprints and working with carpentry and concrete, Operating heavy equipment, outboard motors, chainsaws, winches, and other power tools, Using office software for documentation and project tracking, Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of preventative maintenance

Construct and maintain breakwaters

Work on the water using motorboats

Work on the water using barges

Work on the water using marine equipment

Assist with construction of fish hatchery facilities

Assist with maintenance of fish hatchery facilities

Assist with repair of fish hatchery facilities

Track project progress

Complete essential documentation
