**Role Summary** The Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer is responsible for the engineering, configuration, and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365 services in line with enterprise standards and governance. The role focuses on building, operating, and improving the M365 platform rather than end‑user support, training, or security operations. Engineers operate within a globally governed platform model, contributing specialist expertise while working as part of a cohesive M365 product team. **Reporting Line** Reports to: Senior Manager – Microsoft 365 Platform Role Type: Individual Contributor (Engineer) **Core Responsibilities (Common to All 5 Engineers)** **Platform Engineering & Operations** * Implement and maintain Microsoft 365 configurations aligned to agreed standards. * Support release, change, and lifecycle management for M365 services. * Proactively identify and eliminate recurring platform issues through automation and standardization. **Governance Enablement** * Apply and enforce platform governance policies (retention, permissions, lifecycle) * Contribute to documentation of standards, patterns, and operational runbooks * Support audits and reviews relating to M365 usage and configuration **Platform Modernization** * Support migration away from legacy collaboration platforms and file shares * Assist with remediation of technical debt (e.g. legacy workflows, unsupported tools) * Contribute to roadmap initiatives defined by the M365 Platform leadership **Collaboration & Stakeholder Support** * Work closely with Architecture, Security, IAM, and Regional IT teams * Provide engineering input to platform design and roadmap discussions * Act as a technical escalation point for complex M365 platform issues **Explicitly Out of Scope (for all Engineers)** * End‑user training and adoption * License management * Service desk L1/L2 support * Ownership of security tooling (Defender, Sentinel, etc.) **Required Experience (Generic)** * Strong hands‑on experience with Mic
