Founded over 45 years ago, QSL is a key supply chain player in port terminal operations, stevedoring, marine services, logistics and transportation throughout North America. With a network of over 66 marine terminals in Canada and the United States, our multi-modal capabilities allow us to play a key role in any supply chain. We specialize in the development of innovative and customized dockside, road and rail handling solutions. As a Longshoreman, you will be part of a team responsible for loading, unloading, and moving cargo that supports global commerce. Located at the strategic junction of Lake Michigan and the Calumet River, our terminal serves as a vital link in North America's transportation network. This hands-on position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of cargoes, equipment, and vessels in a dynamic waterfront environment where safety, teamwork, and operational excellence drive everything we do. Responsibilities: * Load, unload, handle, and secure cargo from vessels, railcars, trucks, barges, and terminal storage areas * Operate equipment such as forklifts, wheel loaders, skid steers, cranes, and other cargo-handling machinery as trained and qualified * Perform general labor duties including lashing, rigging, sweeping, shoveling, cargo preparation, and vessel cleanup activities * Follow all safety procedures and work safely in environments that may include heights, confined spaces, moving equipment, and varying weather conditions * Work effectively as part of a team to support efficient vessel, rail, and truck operations while meeting customer requirements * Maintain a strong attendance record and be available for flexible schedules including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments * Previous experience in construction, warehousing, manufacturing, logistics, heavy equipment operation, or marine terminal operations is an asset WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED: * Availability to work on-call with rotating schedules including day, night
