What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, 8+ years’ experience in mechanical design and / or verification or other key competency, Demonstrated experience in full cycle mechanical design and releasing products into a production environment, Detailed knowledge and use of key development tools and design standards: 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, Tolerances, Manufacturing Principles, Interference Checks, Broad knowledge developing high complexity projects that have required one of more of Mechanical Engineering Design specializations or competencies: Tolerance Analysis, DFM, Serviceability, Detailed knowledge (with moderate complexity) of Industry or specific sector, regulatory and safety standards, Ability to mentor less experienced engineers
Nice to Have
MSME/PhD is preferred, Kubernetes a plus
What You'll Do.
Lead highly complex mechanical hardware designs for customer or innovation projects
Manage a small team of design engineers
Ensure technical milestones are achieved
Guide other team members' designs
Lead technical design reviews
Ensure specification requirements input and design outputs align
Partners with system architects to review and clarify design requirements and define the appropriate mechanical/thermal architecture
Assemble prototypes and verifies form/fit/function
Work with and manage external component suppliers/manufacturers and provide input to their product roadmaps
Define design innovations and potential patentable solutions
Lead resolution of complex design issues and manages design trade-offs
Develop and validate complex mechanical products
Lead/supervise mechanical layouts utilizing standard tools
Direct all aspects of mechanical design with minimal supervision
Manage/coach/train engineers with less experience

As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead highly complex mechanical hardware designs for customer or innovation projects and manage a small team of design engineers. Additional responsibilities include ensuring technical milestones are achieved, guiding other team members' designs, leading technical design reviews, and ensuring specification requirements input and design outputs align. Mikros Technologies (a Jabil company) liquid cooling systems are deployed servers in large AI data centers and help to increase the energy efficiency of these sites.
