What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited academic institution in Laser and Optical Engineering, Health Physics, Nuclear or Radiation Science, Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Radiation Biology, or other related field, Two years of experience in environmental health and safety compliance, Must be able to pass university and FBI security background checks
Nice to Have
Master's degree from an accredited academic institution in Engineering, Applied or Basic Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field, More than four years of full-time health physics or laser safety experience at an academic research institution, USDOT, ICAO, IATA Hazardous Material Shipper's Certification
What You'll Do.
Participate in laser laboratory compliance inspection
Perform routine laser laboratory safety assessments
Ensure laser use meets State regulatory requirements
Recommend appropriate control measures
Perform laser beam hazard evaluations
Produce reports and documentation
Collect and confirm laser emission parameters
and upgrade of database
Provide oversight of Laser Pointer policy
Coordinate assessments with UT faculty
Provide general safety and compliance support
Maintain laser measurement equipment calibration
Support radioactive materials
Support X-ray devices
Support radio-frequency emissions
Comply with EHS Principles
Work collaboratively with other University offices
Maintain acceptable driver rating
