Full Job Description
Timmons Group is seeking a Land Development Practice Leader to lead, grow, and shape our Land Development presence in the Washington, DC market. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an entrepreneurial engineer who wants to build an office, develop talent, and drive business growth , while remaining connected to technical excellence and client delivery. This role is ideal for a proven seller–doer and people leader who is energized by building relationships, winning work, and creating a high-performing engineering team. You will have meaningful influence over strategy, staffing, culture, and client engagement while partnering with firm leadership to expand our footprint in a competitive and dynamic market. As the Land Development Practice Leader, you will serve as both a business leader and technical authority , with responsibility for growing the practice and mentoring the next generation of engineers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to: Practice & Business Leadership * Lead the growth and strategic direction of the Land Development practice in the Washington, DC office * Develop and expand client relationships; serve as a trusted advisor to public and private sector clients * Drive business development efforts, including market positioning, pursuit strategy, and proposal leadership * Maintain ownership of project financial performance, including scope, schedule, staffing, and profitability * Collaborate with firm leadership to identify growth opportunities and support long-term office expansion Team & Culture Building * Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers and designers * Provide coaching and technical oversight while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive culture * Set clear expectations and support career development for staff at multiple experience levels Technical & Project Leadership * Provide technical guidance and quality oversight on land development
