What You'll Do.

Performs laboratory procedures to obtain results for physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases using established protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision.

Accurately performs any high complexity

moderate complexity or waived laboratory testing in the assigned testing division

which may require the broad exercise of independent judgment to include the use of advanced clinical laboratory instrumentation and equipment according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.

Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions within the scope of the operators manual and records troubleshooting activities.

verifies and reports test results independently.

Monitors results for reasonableness and critical values.

Correlates and interprets data generated from testing.

Assists physicians in the interpretation of test results within the scope of the profession.

Conducts established quality control and performance improvement activities.

Provides clinical orientation and/or training of new employees/students.

Prepares and/or collects specimens (blood

feces or other body fluids) for analysis.

Participates in Continuous System Improvement (CSI) and continuing education programs.

Performs competency for high complexity testing

**Work Schedule:** Monday-Friday; 10:15p-6:45a with rotating weekends and holidays Performs laboratory procedures to obtain results for physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases using established protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Works independently and communicates effectively with other healthcare professionals. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Accurately performs any high complexity, moderate complexity or waived laboratory testing in the assigned testing division, which may require the broad exercise of independent judgment to include the use of advanced clinical laboratory instrumentation and equipment according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. * Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions within the scope of the operators manual and records troubleshooting activities. * Confirms, verifies and reports test results independently. Monitors results for reasonableness and critical values. * Correlates and interprets data generated from testing. * Assists physicians in the interpretation of test results within the scope of the profession. * Conducts established quality control and performance improvement activities. * Provides clinical orientation and/or training of new employees/students. * Prepares and/or collects specimens (blood, urine, feces or other body fluids) for analysis. * Participates in Continuous System Improvement (CSI) and continuing education programs. * Performs competency for high complexity testing, as delegated. # QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
