High School Diploma or equivalent, Laboratory Assistant Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners

What You'll Do.
Perform patient testing up to moderate complexity
Perform daily temperature checks
Perform analyzer maintenance
Perform quality control
Notify staff when quality control values are not
Ensure department supplies are stocked
Perform skin puncture on all patient age groups
Perform appropriate patient identification
Transcribe orders from outside providers
Respond to applicable code teams
Adhere to blood and body fluid universal special
Adhere to SOP in using handheld devices
Monitor collection list
Document status of outstanding collections
Monitor expected list for pending lab tests
Ensure specimen collection supplies are available
Ensure supplies are within expiration dates
Notify leadership when supplies are falling below thresholds
Notify leadership when expiration dates are upcoming
Stock supplies when deliveries are received
Stock phlebotomy carts with supplies
Ensure adequate inventory available on cart
Ensure specimens are updated to received status
Ensure collection date/time is accurate
Ensure collector is accurate
Ensure receipt date/time is accurate
Deliver specimens to the appropriate Lab Section
Communicate complaints or problems to department supervisor
