What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Traffic & Transportation Planning, Excellent written and verbal skills, Ability to clearly present information graphically, Interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, Listening skills, Ability to learn and help staff and stakeholders get to a common goal, Self-starter, Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team environment, Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, Standard office software (Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on Excel applications), Intersection capacity analysis software including HCS, Synchro / SimTraffic, and Arcady, Microsimulation software such as Vissim, Aimsun, or TransModeler, Data analysis including development and use of data bases (e. g. MS Access), GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS
Nice to Have
Knowledge of In-Design, Illustrator, and other planning and design related software, Knowledge and experience with SharePoint, Knowledge of one or more scripting languages, such as JavaScript and Python, AutoCAD experience

Perform conventional and moderately complex engineering assignments
Apply traffic engineering fundamentals and planning techniques

You will perform both conventional and moderately complex engineering assignments, applying traffic engineering fundamentals and planning techniques. In addition to gathering, analyzing and reporting on various transportation projects, you will also be able to liaise directly with clients, stakeholders, and the public through various forums. Throughout your role, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of engineers, modelers, planners, and communications and engagement specialists. Often involved in fast-paced projects, you must be self-motivated, a creative thinker and quick to respond to requests and tight deadlines. Writing and editing transportation related reports, coordinating and attending stakeholder and advisory committee meetings (as well as producing related materials), and contributing to project management tasks are all part of your role.
