# The Opportunity Aviva Canada Inc. has an excellent opportunity in our Medium Enterprise commercial insurance business unit. Our Ontario Mid-Market branch is seeking a Commercial Lines Fleet Auto Underwriters in Junior and Intermediate roles. In this position, you will service a substantial portfolio of commercial auto business requiring a demonstrated underwriting ability and a commitment to customer service excellence. You will be involved in the underwriting of Fleet accounts. 👉 _We welcome applicants with anywhere from 1 to 5 years of insurance and/or underwriting experience. We will determine level based on experience._ # What you’ll do * Assess and evaluate risk for new and existing fleet business * Assist more junior underwriters with applying corporate underwriting standards and share knowledge and skills with others in the branch (Intermediate); share knowledge and skills with others in the branch (Junior) * Analyze reports to determine adequate exposure and loss rating * Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing levels and policy form amendments * Negotiate renewal terms for the retention of business * Utilize loss control and risk management practices in the underwriting process. * Respond to inquiries from brokers regarding modification to policy files in a prompt and efficient manner. * Work with brokers to develop new business. * Develop and maintain excellent broker relationships and management of assigned broker portfolio * Provide above average customer service # What you’ll bring **For Junior Candidates:** * 1–3 years of experience in the insurance industry; exposure to commercial auto underwriting is an asset. * Foundational underwriting skills and a strong appetite for learning and growth. * CIP designation in progress or completed (preferred). **For Intermediate Candidates:** * 3–5 years of commercial auto underwriting, fleet experience. * Demonstrated technical capability to independently manage a portfolio. * Ability to provide guidance t
