Full Job Description

We are looking for detail-oriented, organized, and responsible individuals who are eager to learn how to apply their causal inference skillsets to solve real world problems. The intern will work in the area of consumer Buy Now Pay Later products and develop models to build an end-to-end approach includes defining a clean treatment signal for exposure to 0% installment offers and constructing appropriate customer counterfactuals using observational causal methods, then estimating overall incrementality as well as heterogeneous treatment effects across meaningful customer cohorts and shopping contexts. Our PhD Economist Internship Program offers hands-on experience in applied economics, supported by mentorship, structured feedback, and professional development. Interns work on real business and research problems, building skills that prepare them for full-time economist roles at Amazon and beyond. You will learn how to build data sets and perform applied econometric analysis collaborating with economists, scientists, and product managers. These skills will translate well into writing applied chapters in your dissertation and provide you with work experience that may help you with placement. These are full-time positions at 40 hours per week, with compensation being awarded on an hourly basis. Basic Qualifications: - PhD student in Economics (enrolled in 3rd year or more and not currently on the job market) Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Python or R - Experience in SQL - Experience working with large, complex data sets - Experience in econometrics (e.g., program evaluation, forecasting, time series, panel data, or high dimensional problems), economic theory, and quantitative methods - Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis - Knowledge of methods for statistical inference (e.g. regression, experimental design, significance testing) - Experience in A/B testing - Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effecti
