Full Job Description
World Wide Engineering & Innovation (WWEI) is seeking an Industrial Design Engineer to support integration and deployment of next-generation automation solutions across sortation, transportation, and fulfillment operations. This is a high-visibility role responsible for translating new automation products from development into scalable operational solutions. The Industrial Design Engineer will lead site-level integration, develop layouts, define operational workflows, and ensure seamless interaction between new automation products and existing material handling equipment, controls architecture, and facility constraints. The role will work closely with hardware engineering teams during product development to influence design for deployment, maintainability, and scalability. You will own how products integrate with upstream and downstream MHE systems, define performance expectations, and validate operational readiness through pilot execution. This position will also own product performance tracking, including defining KPIs, analyzing operational data, identifying gaps, and determining readiness for broader deployment. The engineer will play a key role in recommending scale decisions and influencing long-term automation strategy. This role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, safety, maintenance, finance, and technology teams, as well as external vendors. Responsibilities include supporting pilot planning, installation execution, site retrofits, FAT/SAT validation, and post-deployment performance monitoring. The ideal candidate will drive structured problem solving, develop deployment standards, and help build repeatable integration frameworks for scaling automation products across multiple facilities.
