2 to 4 years of progressive experience in an HR role, Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field, Solid working knowledge of core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration, leave management, and employee relations, Familiarity with Malawi labour law and HR compliance requirements, attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in record-keeping and data management, Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with staff at all levels, including field teams, Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills, Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and a degree of ambiguity
Nice to Have
ideally within an NGO, international development organisation, or fast-growing environment, Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with HR or employee management systems such as BambooHR is an advantage, alignment with GiveDirectly's values and a genuine commitment to the organisation's mission

We are looking for an HR Associate to work directly under the guidance of the HR Manager, providing reliable, hands-on support across all areas of HR operations. This role is based in our field office, ensuring that day-to-day HR support is accessible to field staff where they work. Talent Management and Recruitment Support Assist with the recruitment process for open positions as directed, including posting job adverts, coordinating interview logistics, and maintaining communication with candidates throughout the process. Support the administration of skills assessments and reference checks, ensuring a consistent and organised process from application through to offer stage. Assist in coordinating the onboarding of new staff, including preparing onboarding packs, scheduling orientation sessions, and following up on benefits enrolment, payroll set-up, and system access under the HR Manager's direction.
