**HSSU Lead Driver** **Tiverton HSSU Hub | Sterile Services Unit | Permanent | Full Time up to £35,015 per annum depending on experience** **37.5 hrs per week incl. weekends Enhancements: +30% after 7pm | +20% weekends | 1.5x overtime** Our Hospital Sterile Services Unit (HSSU) transports sterile and disinfected surgical equipment to our local hospital network. If you have a full driving license with a C1 entitlement which allows you to drive rigid vehicles up to 7.5 tons Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) and hold a digital tachograph card, you could enjoy the benefits of joining the UK’s largest Healthcare Charity. The Lead Driver oversees daily transport operations while supporting frontline delivery activity. The role provides direction to the driver team, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant service, and acts as the link between drivers and management. We support long-term careers, giving you the chance to broaden your experience across a range of roles. **Key Responsibilities** * Coordinate daily routes and driver activity * Provide day-to-day leadership and act as escalation point * Monitor tachograph compliance and reduce infringements * Support rota planning, including holiday and resource management * Maintain strong customer relationships and resolve issues * Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and defects are addressed * Support reduction in agency usage and overall cost control * Lead team briefings and promote high standards * Maintain safe working practices and compliance with H&S **Skills & Experience** * C1 licence (up to 7.5T) and digital tachograph card * Knowledge of driver hours and compliance * Experience in logistics/transport * Ability to lead and organise a team (CPC desirable – training available) **Role Requirements** * Comfortable with manual handling (trolleys up to 250kg) * Flexible working between 4am–9pm, including weekends * Hands-on role combining driving and leadership **Helpi
