Must Have
High School Diploma or Equivalent, Current HIM or Coding Certification through American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), Current HIM or Coding Certification through American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), Two (2) years of hospital coding experience
Nice to Have
Graduate of Health Information Technology (HIT) or equivalent program, Medical Coding Certification Program
What You'll Do.
Gather information into coding classification systems
Ensure appropriate reimbursement
Obtain accurate documentation in medical record
Assign appropriate ICD-10
Code moderately complex patient classes
Assign hospital codes to patient classes
Assure quality and timely coding
Maintain and enhance coding knowledge
and timely review of data
Contact physicians for information
Communicate with other offices for billing process
