## Description Material Handler / Telehandler Operator Location: York, PA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shift: 1st Shift Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour (starting rate) Schedule: Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM – 2:30 PM We are currently hiring a Material Handler / Telehandler Operator for a structural steel fabrication environment in York, PA. This is a full-time, first-shift opportunity offering competitive starting pay. Position Overview In this role, you will be responsible for handling and moving structural steel materials within a fabrication yard using powered equipment. You’ll support daily operations by ensuring materials are properly staged, organized, and ready for production or shipment. ## Primary Responsibilities Operate telehandlers, forklifts, or similar heavy equipment to move structural steel materials safely throughout the facility Load and unload steel components including beams, columns, plates, and fabricated assemblies Stage materials according to production priorities and shipping schedules Verify material identification using tags, work orders, pick sheets, or shop drawings Assist with truck loading activities and coordinate material movement with shop and yard personnel Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns Follow company safety procedures, rigging guidelines, and OSHA standards at all times Maintain a clean, organized, and safe outdoor work environment ## Qualifications Previous experience operating telehandlers, forklifts, or related heavy equipment in an industrial, steel, or construction setting Ability to safely handle large and heavy steel materials Familiarity with reading material tags, blueprints, or fabrication drawings preferred Understanding of safe rigging and load handling practices Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed Strong attention to safety, reliability, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
