What You'll Do.
Lead and grow multiple cross-functional Product Engineering teams within Marketplace and Payments
Set clear directions and enable teams to operate with ownership
Ensure alignment across Marketplace and Payments and consistency in engineering practices
Grow future leaders by coaching engineering managers and senior engineers
Sponsor and drive initiatives that raise the bar and strengthen Treatwell's overall Product Engineering capabilities
Co-own and drive outcomes with the Head of Product
Set the technical direction for the Marketplace and Payments areas
Shape and scale technical direction and practices using guilds
Raise the bar on reliability
performance and security
Deliberately grow engineering managers and senior individual contributors
Ensure teams are planned and staffed with the right skills
succession planning and talent development for the area
Coach leaders to be effective people leaders
technical decision-makers and area-level owners
Remove organisational and technical barriers that slow teams down
Reduce toil and improve day-to-day delivery
Partner closely with Platform to evolve shared foundations for CI/CD

Full Job Description
We are looking for a **Head of Engineering for the Marketplace and Payments** areas at Treatwell. We are Europe’s leading platform for booking hair and beauty appointments, serving millions of customers and partners across multiple markets. In this role, you will lead and grow multiple cross-functional Product Engineering teams within Marketplace and Payments, working closely with Product and Design to build experiences that connect customers and venues at scale. You set clear directions and enable teams to operate with strong ownership, autonomy, and pace. You ensure alignment across Marketplace and Payments and consistency in engineering practices, while keeping decisions close to the work and actively removing friction. You also grow future leaders by coaching engineering managers and senior engineers and by creating the conditions for teams to deliver outcomes reliably while also sponsoring and driving initiatives that raise the bar and strengthen Treatwell's overall Product Engineering capabilities. **You will be responsible for:** **1\. Drive Marketplace and Payments alignment & outcomes** * Co-own and drive outcomes with the Head of Product, setting clear, outcome-focused goals. Support teams in exploring the problem space, applying engineering judgment to shape pragmatic solutions, slicing thin and making timely decisions that shorten feedback loops, improve speed to market, strengthen customer and venue value, and deliver measurable business impact. **2\. Technical direction & scaling practices** * Set the technical direction for the Marketplace and Payments areas together with architects and engineers. Use guilds as the primary mechanism to shape and scale technical direction and practices, raising the bar on reliability, maintainability, performance and security so teams can move fast with confidence.
