What You'll Achieve.
Provides reasonable assurance to the Board, Executive Committee, and other stakeholders on the effectiveness of the banking group's governance, risk management, and internal control processes; Ensures that all assurance activities are integrated and coordinated; Ensures that their activities are effectively integrated into the combined assurance planning cycle; Ensures that their recommendations are adequately addressed; Ensures that the combined assurance program is sufficiently robust to identify emerging risks and respond to changes in the internal and external environment; Ensures sustained CA planning and reporting processes; Make recommendations for improvements as necessary; Clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of controls that have undergone assurance testing; Ensures the organization has the necessary skills, resources, and support to effectively carry out its assurance objectives; Enabling structured cross-functional reliance and integrated assurance outcomes across the Group; Provide Assurance subject matter expert guidance; Establish the governance practice for deviations from the function’s assurance plans; Embedment of Combined Assurance standard applicable to Group Risk; Ensure that Absa is being represented at industry events on CA and related topics; Embed the performance culture and role model Group values and behaviors; Building a pipeline of skills and capabilities; Ensures all submission of all quarterly reporting papers to the AGL exco and the board sub-committee are approved and submitted on time
Industry & Context.
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies, Minimum of 15 years’ assurance experience, at least 5 years in a leadership role, Combined assurance experience essential, Management/ leadership experience required, A minimum of five years’ financial services experience, Understanding of Banking regulations and Industry best practices related to risk management and internal control
Nice to Have
Degree, Professional certification in auditing, risk management, internal audit or related fields (e. g. CA(SA), CIA)
What You'll Do.
maintenance of integrated assurance program
Coordinate and integrate activities of assurance providers
Liaise with external audit and regulatory teams
Foster culture of risk awareness and assurance excellence
Monitor and report on effectiveness of combined assurance program
enterprise-wide embedment of Group Combined Assurance methodology
Establish and lead Risk Function community of practice
Lead reporting process of Risk Functions assurance activities
Set minimum standard of assurance quality and methodology
Lead compilation and submission of all CA reporting
Report on insights/thematic root causes of findings
Lead compilation of reporting on all combined assurance testing results
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Coordinate activities of various assurance providers; Liaise with external audit and regulatory supervisory teams; Build and maintain relationships with CA stakeholders; Build and maintain relationships with CA Work Group members; Contributes to wider talent development of the function; Attract, develop and retain talented individuals
Communication Scope
Effectively communicated to the Head of Governance, Risk and Control; Clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of controls; Point of escalation on matters relating to interpretation of CA policies; Main point of contact for enquiries related to Combined Assurance policy; Provide thought leadership; Ensures all submission of all quarterly reporting papers are approved and submitted on time
