Trains and supervises the technicians and office staff in the collection, transport, processing and disposal of waste. Ensures that legal requirements for hazardous waste and safety are met by staff and users of the program. Is responsible for the department budget. Prepares budget requests and monthly forecasts. **Primary Responsibilities:** * Manage a team of technical and administrative staff by providing guidance and leadership. Assign work priorities to maximize the use of available manpower following budget constraints; Assesses all complex HWM problems requiring specialized skills and resolves these problems. * Establish financial priorities in collaboration with the Associate Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) for various safety programs. Oversee the development of operating and other budgets, authorize, and monitor expenditures, audit operational expenditures, and ensure compliance with university and departmental budget policies and financial procedures * Manage the staffing process, supervision, and evaluation of external consultants working with Hazardous Waste Management. * In collaboration with the Associate Director of EHS, identify the HWM priorities. Create and plan activities and projects, including special projects and awareness
