Full Job Description
Graduate Mechanical Engineer - 3D Printing Hardware **Description -** **About HP and the 3D Printing Organization** The HP Barcelona campus is the worldwide headquarters for HP’s 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing (HPAM) business, hosting one of the largest R&D hubs outside the United States. We are seeking a graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D hardware team to support the development, testing, and industrialization of next-generation digital manufacturing systems. **Job Summary** This role is responsible for designing portions of engineering solutions and collaborating with internal and outsourced development partners. The position involves implementing and validating test plans, conducting basic feasibility studies, and evaluating device or component failures. The engineer will apply a foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles, theories, and concepts to assignments of limited scope while utilizing modern digital and AI-assisted workflows. **Key Responsibilities** * **Component Design:** Design portions of engineering solutions for mechanical hardware, thermal systems, and enclosures using 3D CAD tools, gradually incorporating AI-assisted tools. * **Testing & Validation:** Execute established test plans for existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, safety, and thermal performance. * **Data Automation:** Collect and analyze empirical data from test setups, utilizing basic scripting (mainly Python) and AI coding assistants to automate routine data collection and process test logs. * **Failure Analysis:** Evaluate physical or operational failures of components and subsystems to determine the root cause, leveraging internal databases and AI search tools to reference historical engineering data. * **Prototyping:** Assist in building, testing, and refining early-stage prototypes that integrate mechanical, electrical, and fluidic components. * **Team Collaboration:** Participate as an a
