Must Have

High School Diploma or equivalent, Completion of SGNA GI Technical Specialist Associates Program within 90 days of hire and renewed every 5 years as required by SGNA., Corewell Health South team members hired prior to 5/10/2024 must obtain the SGNA certificate of completion by 9/1/2024.

Nice to Have

Associate's Degree in related field, Completion of SGNA Advanced GI Technical Specialist (AGTS) Associates Program within 90 days of hire., CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 60 Days required, CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 60 Days required

What You'll Do.

Assists in patient care before

during and after diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Assists the physician with the equipment and tools necessary to complete procedures.

Responsible for inspecting

processing and distributing patient care instruments

equipment and supplies in accordance with established policies

procedures and standards.

Contributes to the smooth operations of the unit.

Obtains and organizes necessary equipment

and instruments for each procedural case.

Cleans soiled instruments and equipment utilizing the appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE).

Inspects and tests instruments and equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Assists the Gastroenterologist/physician with the technical tools necessary for treatment of the patient.

Administers localized medications under the immediate direction of the physician.

Handles procedural specimens under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and delivery of specimens to designated area.

Ensures procedural images are available for the Gastroenterologist/physician to input into the procedure notes.

Assists with "turnover" of procedural rooms between patients.

Prepares room for endoscopic procedures

restocks room as necessary

and cleans and prepares equipment

work areas and reusable supplies

returning unneeded equipment to appropriate area.

Assists with patient care as directed by RN.

Transports patients to and from the procedural rooms.
