What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Qualified Mental Health Professional Status, Peer Support certification, Masters or Bachelor's degree in human services field, 1-2 years experience working directly with adults with MH and SU needs, High School Diploma or GED, Certified as a Peer Support Specialist, minimum of 18 months in recovery, 1 year experience in health care or crisis setting, Complete training specific to crisis response, Valid drivers license, automotive insurance, Pass background check, Pass drug screen
What You'll Do.
Serve as primary point of contact for individuals
Coordinate and refer to desired aftercare
Locate needed referrals and resources
Provide essential expertise and consultation
Promote a culture of respect for individual preferences
Serve as an advocate for the person supported
Assist people in regaining control over recovery
Function as a role model of competency
Link and refer individuals to community resources
Assist clients by finding resources
Advise consumer of processes
Encourage follow through with proposed resolutions
Locate social activities
Complete discharge plans
Develop Comprehensive Crisis plans
Meet with clients to provide direction and support
Inform clients on community resources
Provide information to consumers and families
Assist in peer support groups
Support/assist consumers in daily decision making
Support consumers in resolution of minor problems
Foster client’s development of healthy relationships
Encourage participation in groups on the unit
Observe behavior and evidence of general well-being
Discuss observations with the treatment team
Model effective coping and self-help techniques
