What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Fire Protection Engineering, Minimum 5+ years' experience in facility design and construction, Active PE Registration, Passed the Fire Protection portion of the NCEES PE Exam, Familiar with the nature and characteristics of fire, Understand how fires originate, spread within and outside of buildings/structures, and how it can be detected, controlled, and/or extinguished, Able to anticipate the behavior or materials, structures, machines, apparatus, and processes as related to the protection of life and property from fire, Understanding of chemistry, combustion, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics, Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents

Perform hazard analysis
Layout sprinkler piping
Layout fire alarm systems
Perform smoke control analysis
Design special hazard systems
Design mass notification
Coordinate with trades
Manage system commissioning

Conduct site inspections
Prepare inspection reports
Provide cost opinions
Perform site observations
Fulfill contractual obligations
